Bespoke Manufacturing
Bespoke or made-to-measure joinery is exactly what it sounds like — everything we produce is made to order. We cater to the needs of trade, commercial, and residential clients alike, creating joinery that is tailored specifically to each individual project. Because of this, we do not carry or stock any “off-the-shelf” mouldings, doors, or windows. Every item is manufactured to suit the unique dimensions and requirements of our client's projects or properties.
Our area of expertise lies in producing made-to-measure and replica architectural joinery, most commonly for older buildings. We regularly work on listed, conservation, and period properties, where attention to detail and accuracy are essential to preserving the character and integrity of the original structure.

Traditional Sash & Case
Our traditional timber sash and case windows beautifully balance authentic period detailing with modern performance. We faithfully replicate traditional profiles and mouldings while incorporating advanced glazing technology and discreet draught-proofing systems, all crafted from responsibly sourced, sustainable timber.
We manufacture complete windows using the highest quality Scandinavian redwood, as well as premium hardwoods including meranti, sapele, and oak. We also offer Accoya®, a high-performance modified timber renowned for its exceptional durability and stability. Our clients’ most popular choice is full windows in Scandinavian redwood, with an optional upgrade to a meranti hardwood or Accoya® cill to further enhance longevity and resilience.
Ogee, Edinburgh, Lamb’s Tongue, and Gothic Arch astragal profiles are commonly found throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. We have invested in specialised tooling to accurately reproduce traditional sash profiles and astragal mouldings, allowing us to match historic detailing with precision. A wide range of glazing options, ironmongery, and finishes are available, many of which have previously been approved for listed and period properties, as well as homes within conservation areas (subject to planning consent).
Our craftsmanship can be seen in many iconic listed buildings across Edinburgh city centre, including The Playfair in Edinburgh’s West End, The BrewDog Hotel on Market Street, and The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society headquarters on Infirmary Street.

Replica / Replacment Sashes
Many of our trade clients specialise in refurbishing and upgrading sash & case and casement windows. Where original sashes are beyond repair, or where improved thermal performance is required. We manufacture high-quality replacement sashes tailored to your exact needs.
We carefully match existing rail and moulding profiles, as well as sash thickness, ensuring a consistent match with the original design. Using your choice of timber, along with selected draught-proofing systems and glazing options, we deliver products that meet both aesthetic and performance requirements.
We can replicate sashes on a like-for-like basis and manufacture a wide range of styles, including square, rectangular, arched, curved, bowed, and angled designs. Whether you require individual sashes or complete sets, we provide precision-crafted solutions.
In addition, we supply bespoke sash sets to other window manufacturers, built to their exact specifications and ready for fitting and glazing into their own window cases.

Decorative Fanlights
Traditional fanlights complement any entranceway, adding extra light and elegance to your property. We can manufacture replica sashes to suit your property’s original design, carefully retaining its historical charm. In Edinburgh New Town there are several distinct fanlight patterns, many of which are street-specific. Preserving these subtle variations is essential to maintaining the architectural integrity of the area.
We can produce replica arched or square fanlights to match the original astragal profiles and glazing layouts with precision. Where permitted, our clients can also benefit from modern glazing solutions, improving thermal performance while respecting the building’s traditional appearance.

Arched Stair Fixed Panes
Arched fixed-pane windows are a popular architectural feature in period homes, often forming a striking focal point on staircases where they allow natural light to flood the stairwell and surrounding areas.
We manufacture bespoke replica fixed-pane windows, carefully tailored to suit your property. A wide range of glass and glazing options is available, allowing you to complement both traditional and contemporary styles.
Often referred to as radius windows, these elegant features combine timeless design with practical functionality, enhancing both the character and brightness of any space.

Fully Reversible Windows
Top swing, or fully reversible, windows offer a contemporary style while remaining versatile enough to suit a wide range of property types.
Our preferred gearing system for this window type is PN Roto, which incorporates integrated restrictors within the sliding mechanism. This provides two secure opening positions before allowing the sash to fully reverse. The sash can then rotate 180 degrees, enabling safe and straightforward cleaning of the external glass from inside the property, this is particularly beneficial for upper-floor installations making cleaning the windows considerable easier and safer.
While this style is most commonly specified for modern properties and typically supplied with standard double glazing, along with plant-on or solid astragal bars, it is not limited to these options. We can also accommodate single glazing, heritage double glazing, and Fineo vacuum glazing. A range of handle finishes, espagnolette locking systems, and paint options is available to suit your project requirements.
To ensure safe and effective operation, recommended size and weight limitations apply to the reversible gearing system.

Casement Windows
Casement windows offer a high level of versatility, ranging from a single opening sash to larger window arrangements incorporating multiple side-hung and top-hung sashes within a bespoke frame.
As with all our products, our timber casement windows can be manufactured with plant-on or solid astragal bars and are available with a variety of glazing options, including single glazing, double glazing, heritage double glazing, and Fineo glass. A full selection of ironmongery and paint finishes is also available to suit your project.
Outward Opening - Over Rebated Storm Windows
Outward opening rebated storm windows are suitable for both traditional and modern properties, offering excellent weather resistance. This style is generally more durable and performs better particularly in exposed conditions.Outward Opening - Flush Casement
Outward opening flush casement windows are suitable for both traditional and modern properties offering a more sleek design compared to over rebated storm windows.Inward Opening - Flush Casements
We can manufacture inward opening casement windows to match existing designs. However, where possible, outward opening windows are recommended, as they provide superior performance in harsh weather conditions, including driving rain and strong winds.
Roof Lanterns & Cupolas
Timber Roof Lanterns and Glazed Cupolas are an elegant way to introduce natural daylight into your home, brightening interiors for longer periods and enhancing the overall sense of space.
Like all of our bespoke products, we can manufacture your new roof lantern or cupola to faithfully replicate your property’s original design. Whether the overall shape is square, rectangular, oval, or circular, we pay close attention to moulding profiles, proportions, and dimensional details to ensure the finished installation complements the character and architecture of your building.
Our roof lanterns and cupolas are typically glazed with either single or double-glazed safety glass. However, we strongly recommend laminated glass for this application. Thanks to its shape-retaining properties, laminated glass in a broken state offers enhanced safety, security, and weather resistance properties. In the unlikely event that a pane becomes damaged, the interlayer holds the glass in place, helping to maintain structural integrity and prevent exposure to the elements.
We typically manufacture new roof lanterns and cupolas in Meranti or Accoya, both chosen for their durability and stability. However, we can also produce them in Redwood if preferred.

Replica Profile Moulds
Listed and period properties often feature decorative mouldings and architraves that are unique to the individual building. We can produce replica timber profiles to replace sections that have been removed or damaged over time. In most cases, all we require is a small sample piece for our wood machinist to accurately replicate the original detail. This can be carried out in a variety of timber options, allowing our clients to retain their property’s original features and historic charm while ensuring a seamless finish.
In most instances, custom profile cutters are required, which is why a physical sample is preferred to achieve an exact match. However, profile cutters can also be produced from precise 1:1 scale drawings where samples are unavailable, ensuring an accurate and faithful reproduction.
Wood Machining
Alongside producing replica mouldings, we also offer precision timber machining. When standard “off-the-shelf” dimensions from your local merchants don’t meet your requirements, our skilled wood machinist can help.
Please note the items are below are made to order and subject to a turn arounf time. We produce bespoke, made-to-order solutions such as:

Bespoke Entrance Screens
This stunning entrance screen, incorporating a vestibule door, side screens, and an arched fanlight, was manufactured specifically to our client’s interior designer’s specifications. Carefully site-sized and templated by Jaymax, our skilled bench joiners crafted a new entrance screen that looks as though it has always been part of this beautiful home.
We worked closely with the design team throughout the process, ensuring every proportion and detail was executed precisely. Templates of the glass apertures were supplied to the glazing company, enabling them to produce the bespoke leaded glass panels. These striking panes were then glazed into the doorset following installation, completing the design exactly as envisioned.

Traditional Doors
We manufacture doors either as a door only option or as a complete unit also known as a doorset. Although these can be customised to your own choices our doorset tend to have our standard items included – Aquamac draught seals with a choice of our stocked ironmongery options and the option to preserve, prime or factory paint.
Our clients most popular choice of timber is our highquality Meranti which is sourced from local importers, we can manufacture from other timber choices such as Accoya, Sapele, European Oak.
Traditional Style - External and Internal doors and doorsets; Ideal for traditional tenement properties, these doors can be manufactured to retain the traditional appearance and will be manufactured on a made to order basis to suit the sizes you require with a choice of standard mouldings and panel or lining options.
Replica External and Internal doors and doorsets – Theses can be made as an exact copy of the original doors in your property with moulding and panel templates being produced to ensure we have accurate detailing. Optional alternations can also be incorporated to allow for discreet draught excluder and ironmongery options.
Bi-Folding Doors
Bi-folding doors are similar to lift and slide systems in that they help maximise natural light and the usability of a space. Where they differ, however, is that the entire doorset can be folded neatly away, completely opening up adjoining rooms to the garden area and creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
As with our lift and slide systems, our tried and tested bi-fold gearing comes from the German company Centor. The Centor E3 System offers a sleek yet robust solution that has proven exceptionally reliable, even after years of enduring Scottish weather conditions. With a variety of opening configurations and folding layouts available, this hardware system can usually provide the perfect solution to suit your property’s design and functional requirements.

Lift 'N' Slide Doors
Lift and Slide Doors allow you to maximise natural daylight and usable space, whether the doors are open or closed. Their smooth operation and slim sightlines make them an excellent choice for creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces.
Our preferred lift and slide gearing system is the AGB Lift & Slide Hardware, manufactured in Italy. We have tried and tested this product over many years, experiencing little to no issues, which gives us complete confidence in its long-term performance, durability, and ease of use.
We are happy to manufacture lift and slide doors in a range of premium hardwoods, including Meranti, Iroko, and European Oak. A wide variety of glazing specifications and finishing options are also available.

Garden and Driveway Gates
These beautiful Drive Way Gates with Half Leaf were manufactured from an Africa Species of timber call Agba.
We would also recommend manufacturing timber gates and fence panels from durable timbers such as Cedar, Iroko, European Oak or Accoya purely because these timbers are more durable and are therefore a better choice for being used outdoors.

Traditional Garage Gates
In recent years we have seen an increased interest in reinstating or renewing traditional garage doors in properties.
These Traditional Timber Garage Doors were manufactured from Meranti Hardwood with Double Glazed Panes (safety glass) above insulated Tricoya panels below. We also supplied effective draught restrictors and weather bar.
